Position Overview

Join the dedicated team at CentraCare as a Clinical Laboratory Specialist.

Laboratory experts play a crucial role in the healthcare ecosystem, providing essential insights that guide medical professionals in delivering high-quality patient care. Each day, healthcare providers depend on laboratory specialists to conduct analyses on biological samples, interpret findings, and contribute to a comprehensive understanding of patient health. Without their expertise, medical practice would lack precision and reliability.

This role encompasses a generalist function, engaging in various laboratory disciplines such as chemistry, hematology, and either microbiology or transfusion services.

Work Schedule:
  • Full-time | 72 hours biweekly
  • 7 days on, followed by 7 days off
  • Shifts from 8 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. or 8:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
Compensation and Benefits:
  • Salary commensurate with experience
  • $4 hourly shift differential
  • $10,000 Hiring Incentive or $15,000 Student Loan Repayment; $5,000 Relocation Assistance (if applicable)

Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree from an accredited Clinical/Medical Laboratory Technician (CLT / MLT) program or equivalent qualifications as per CLIA regulations for employees hired prior to September 1, 1997. New graduates must validate their degree within two months post-graduation.
  • ASCP-BOC certification required within six months, with the first examination completed within three months of hire, and certification verification within six weeks of the exam.
  • Preferred: Recent experience of one or more years in a large acute care facility.
  • Transportation for off-site laboratory-related tasks may be necessary.
  • A valid Minnesota driver's license, a clean driving record, and the minimum required insurance liability coverage may be necessary.
To qualify for the hiring incentive, student loan repayment, or relocation assistance, candidates must be external applicants hired into eligible full-time or part-time benefited roles. Previous CentraCare employees are eligible if they have not been employed with CentraCare for at least nine months at the time of hire. Hiring incentives, including bonuses for hiring and relocation, may be subject to change. The relocation bonus must meet specified distance criteria. Full-time or part-time status may influence the bonus amount.
