POSITION TITLE: COST ACCOUNTANT

DEPARTMENT: ACCOUNTING / FINANCE

REPORTS TO: COST ACCOUNTING SUPERVISOR

OVERVIEW: The Cost Accountant is responsible for evaluating and managing company expenditures to enhance profitability. This position collaborates closely with various departments to ensure informed financial decisions are made at the management level and beyond.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist in product cost estimations across all product categories.
  • Conduct daily costing for new items and modifications to current products.
  • Perform costing assessments to ensure adherence to country of origin and other customer requirements.
  • Analyze manufacturing costs to propose cost-saving initiatives.
  • Support physical and cycle count reconciliations of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods inventory.
  • Identify opportunities for process enhancements and cost efficiency improvements.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual journal entries to facilitate financial reporting.
  • Review bills of materials and labor routing sequences for precision.
  • Engage in cross-functional collaboration with production, procurement, and engineering teams.
  • Communicate global costing and inventory implications to management.
  • Conduct ad-hoc analyses to support business decisions and financial justifications.
  • Establish intercompany transfer pricing mechanisms.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing settings and product cost structures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Proactive, self-driven, and detail-oriented with an inquisitive mindset.
  • Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
EXPERIENCE:
  • 1-3 years of experience in Accounting or Finance, ideally within a global manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with ERP software systems; familiarity with AS400 or Infor systems is advantageous.
