Your Role
The Structural Project Engineer is responsible for executing fundamental structural engineering and project oversight tasks under the mentorship of a Senior Project Engineer. This role involves comprehending project specifications and conducting independent technical work on sophisticated structural assignments. Additionally, you will provide direction to Structural Designers in their project responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design advanced structural systems with minimal oversight.
  • Prepare project outputs aligned with client expectations and the defined scope of work.
  • Adhere to Stantec's quality assurance processes, ensuring thorough reviews of project outputs prior to submission.
  • Conduct quality control reviews and authorize smaller-scale projects as needed.
  • Engage actively in the engineering community to enhance personal expertise and professional development (e.g., attending seminars, conferences, and contributing to industry publications).
  • Assist in project management tasks, including planning and executing tasks within established timelines and budgets, while identifying necessary inputs from other disciplines.
  • Fully comprehend and communicate Stantec's diverse service offerings to clients.
  • Achieve or surpass utilization targets while maintaining project budgets.
  • Identify and communicate potential challenges and competing priorities that may affect project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Develop familiarity with Stantec's financial and project management systems.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Possess advanced knowledge of structural engineering principles within your specialty and a foundational understanding of other engineering disciplines.
  • Able to conceptualize and devise solutions for comprehensive building structural systems, including interactions among various components.
  • Exhibit strong technical and analytical capabilities.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of design methodologies, materials, construction techniques, and relevant building codes.
  • Capable of interpreting technical documents, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficient in relevant software applications (e.g., Revit, CAD, structural analysis tools).
  • Effective communicator, able to articulate project scope and coordination needs to clients, vendors, and team members.
  • Skilled in drafting detailed reports, business correspondence, and procedural documentation.
  • Exhibit strong organizational and time management skills, adept at managing multiple priorities efficiently.
Education and Experience
A degree in engineering or equivalent education and experience is required. A minimum of five years of relevant industry experience is preferred. A Registered Structural Engineer (SE) license or other professional certification in your area of expertise is also preferred.
