Position Overview

Department Information:

The Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine department is dedicated to providing exceptional professional education and training while engaging in innovative research in biochemistry, molecular genetics, genomics, and bioinformatics, all aimed at enhancing our understanding of human diseases. The department has a distinguished history of training undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences.

Role Summary:

The Senior Research Analyst will be tasked with orchestrating, executing, and overseeing high-level research initiatives. This includes the design and implementation of experiments within a regulated laboratory environment, as well as the development of advanced tools and technologies to facilitate investigations into histone deacetylases. Utilizing substantial expertise and discernment, this role will independently plan research projects, interpret and analyze data, disseminate findings through publications, represent the institution at various conferences, innovate new theories and methodologies, and mentor junior research personnel while imparting technical knowledge.

Participation in weekly laboratory meetings, bi-weekly research discussions, and collaborative sessions is essential, as is the ability to present and review research advancements with the Principal Investigator. The candidate must demonstrate the capability to work autonomously, adhere to deadlines, compile monthly progress reports, and communicate these updates to relevant stakeholders.

Additional Responsibilities:

Other related duties may be assigned as necessary. The absence of specific tasks does not limit the supervisor's ability to allocate responsibilities that are logically connected to the position.

Qualifications:

Ideal candidates will possess a Master's degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience or a PhD with at least 2 years of experience in a related field, which includes a minimum of 2 years in research and/or teaching at the collegiate level. The degree must be obtained by the start date of employment.

Preferred Skills:
  • Expertise in data analysis and statistical methodologies, including proficiency with software such as R, Python, or MATLAB, to effectively evaluate experimental outcomes and derive significant insights.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, with a proven track record of articulating complex scientific concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences through presentations, reports, and scholarly articles.
  • Experience in experimental design and execution, showcasing the ability to strategize and conduct experiments, troubleshoot challenges, and modify protocols as necessary to meet research goals.
Compensation:
Salary range: $89,000 - $130,317.91
