Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Interventional Radiology and Cardiac Lab Specialist will support the Licensed Practitioner in executing fluoroscopic and specialized interventional and Neuro-Interventional procedures while adhering to sterile techniques. Responsibilities include preparing, administering, and documenting activities related to medications and radiation exposure in compliance with federal and state regulations, as well as facility policies.

Essential Job Functions
  • Conducts high-quality diagnostic vascular laboratory examinations utilizing ultrasound and physiological testing equipment to assess the cerebrovascular, peripheral arterial, and peripheral venous systems, following established exam protocols unless clinical deviations are warranted.
  • Prepares patients for procedures by clearly explaining the process and providing necessary instructions to achieve optimal results, foster cooperation, and alleviate patient anxiety.
  • Communicates with referring physicians or relevant medical personnel for clarification prior to performing an exam if there are concerns regarding the accuracy of the exam order.
  • Employs the hospital's electronic medical record system to review patient data, enter preliminary reports, and document critical findings in accordance with departmental policies.
  • Completes assigned tasks within a timeframe suitable for the situation.

  • Complies with all safety initiatives, infection control policies, and maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in performing non-invasive vascular examinations.
  • Possesses knowledge of vascular anatomy, examination procedures, interpretation criteria, and correlates vascular lab exam results with other hospital procedures.

Licensing/Certification

Certification and Registration with ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) (required)

BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care) (required)

ACLS-Advanced Cardiac Life Support- American Heart Association (preferred)

Certification in Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiography R.T.(R)(CV)(ARRT) (preferred)

Vascular-Interventional Radiology R.T.(R)(VI)(ARRT) (preferred)

State Licensure (preferred, unless required by the state where the job is being performed)

Education

Associate's degree from an ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) accredited institution (preferred)

Work Experience

1 year of experience in radiology with surgical experience in the use of CR (preferred)

Training

EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) (preferred)

Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) (preferred)
