Position Summary:
As a Portfolio Manager in Project Finance at CoBank, you will play a crucial role in managing relationships and providing credit support to primary Relationship Managers. This includes the origination, structuring, execution, and oversight of Project Finance transactions related to power and energy infrastructure assets. You will collaborate closely with Relationship Managers and Credit Analysts on internal credit assessments, research, and financial modeling tasks. Additionally, you will mentor junior staff and contribute to achieving profitability and credit objectives for the division through effective management of account relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently oversee the daily operations of a diverse portfolio of complex transactions in power, water, energy, and utilities, including both new and existing accounts.
- Provide expert guidance on refinancing existing borrowers, amendments, consents, waivers, and term conversions, advising Relationship Managers on any credit concerns.
- Facilitate communication with essential internal stakeholders, including leadership, Credit, Capital Markets, and Operations.
- Collaborate with Credit Analysts to analyze financial data and conduct due diligence for financing arrangements.
- Draft eligibility opinions and internal risk documentation as part of the due diligence process.
- Support Relationship Managers in origination and structuring new business, taking the lead on negotiations and documentation for new lending commitments.
- Address customer inquiries related to billing and documentation.
- Ensure profitability and credit quality targets are met for the portfolio.
- Conduct compliance monitoring and manage covenant violations, reporting any exceptions.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, regulatory requirements, and technological advancements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree is required.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the banking or financial services sector, specifically in power, water, energy, or utilities.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in Project Finance is essential.
- Strong understanding of accounting, finance, and corporate valuation principles.
- Familiarity with commercial lending practices, loan structuring, and financing alternatives.
- Advanced skills in Project Finance financial modeling and auditing.
- Knowledge of industry standards, trends, and regulatory requirements.
- Proven analytical abilities to assess credits, contracts, and deal structures.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Willingness to travel occasionally (up to 25%).
Physical Requirements:
This role is primarily sedentary, requiring minimal physical exertion.
Travel Requirements:
Occasional travel may be necessary, typically once a month or less.
