Job Title: Veterans Services Counselor II

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Veterans Services Counselor II to join our team. The successful candidate will provide information, counsel, advice, and assistance to veterans, their families, and dependents concerning services, assistance, or benefits to which they are entitled by law or otherwise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide information, counsel, advice, and assistance to veterans, their families, and dependents concerning services, assistance, or benefits to which they are entitled by law or otherwise.
  • Direct and refer them to appropriate agencies for other services, assistance, and benefits.
  • Perform a variety of veterans affairs counseling functions ranging from the simple to moderately complex.
  • Provide information on available State and/or federal benefits.
  • Apply, explain, and interpret laws related to veterans benefits administered by the State of Hawaii or the Veteran's Administration.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • One year of progressively responsible professional experience as an employment counselor, rehabilitation specialist, social worker, or other professional work experience assisting others with resolving their vocational, health, social, or other personal problems.
  • Knowledge of interviewing techniques, community resources, and local agencies, groups, and organizations providing services or benefits to the community it serves.
  • Knowledge of the benefits and services available to veterans.

Working Conditions:

The selected candidate will work in a fast-paced environment and will be required to work independently with minimal supervision. The candidate must be able to work effectively in a team environment and communicate effectively with veterans, their families, and dependents.
