The Cardiac Sonographer 2 performs advanced cardiac ultrasound services and procedures for adult patients, including transthoracic, transesophageal, and stress echocardiograms, to diagnose and assess cardiac abnormalities.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare patients for procedures and obtain clinical history to adapt imaging techniques for comprehensive and diagnostic echocardiograms.
- Perform basic to advanced cardiac ultrasound procedures using various equipment and techniques, making necessary measurements for accurate results.
- Identify and define cardiac abnormalities, extending the scope of the examination as needed, and correlating invasive and noninvasive cardiac diagnostic test results with cardiac anatomy and function.
- Assist physicians in procedure rooms and operating rooms by performing echocardiograph studies to aid in complex procedures and decrease risk factors.
- Record statistics and perform daily maintenance of the Echocardiography Lab and its equipment, reporting malfunctions as appropriate.
- Act as a resource to other staff, physicians, and students regarding equipment, techniques, procedures, and studies to optimize patient care.
- Work closely with cardiac sonographer quality coordinator to ensure adherence to quality processes and protocols, and assist with ICAEL accreditation activities as delegated.
- Grad of an Accredited Program or 2 years of work experience above the minimum qualification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS in 30 days of hire or transfer.
- Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Reg Diag Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) through Cardio Credentialing Intl. (CCI) or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
