Airworthiness Certification Inspector A&P Job Description

About the Role

Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Airworthiness Certification Inspector A&P to join our team. As an Airworthiness Certification Inspector A&P, you will be responsible for performing airworthiness and certification inspections in a timely manner to ensure aircraft and/or component airworthiness.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Perform inspection and airworthiness inspection duties utilizing accepted/approved data including QC/QA procedures, instructions, and other related documents.
  2. Conduct first article inspections to ensure compliance with FAA and/or ODA approved procedures and ensures all associated records are completed.
  3. Perform inspections and certify acft/component as airworthy prior to delivery and Return to Service.
  4. Complete inspections of aircraft, engine, and component repairs and alterations to ensure conformity to FAA approved/acceptable data.
  5. Coordinate mechanical, electrical and inspection requirements on aircraft during maintenance or outfitting.
  6. Coordinate throughout assigned jobs with RTS to ensure accurate aircraft records are produced in a timely manner.
  7. Ensure aircraft/components are airworthy prior to any flight activities.
  8. Issue FAA Forms in accordance with FAA/ODA requirements for authorized functions and activities to include conformity, prototype, export, and 14 CFR Part 43 Return to Service activities.
  9. Perform certification inspections to type design requirements in support of acft/component certification.
  10. Monitor repair station compliance to the requirements of 14 CFR Part 145 and the FAA accepted site Repair Station and QC Manuals.
  11. Develop and approve acft log book entries relating to acft configuration and installations.
  12. Perform FAA acft/component certification activities as an IAR.
  13. Manage Product/Article certification activities.
  14. Provide technical support to inspection personnel supporting FAA and/or ODA documented requirements.
  15. Support coordination of inspection workloads.

Requirements

  1. Competent in use of all job related tools and equipment.
  2. Proficient in blueprint/drawing reading, use/interpretation of Maintenance Manuals, CMP, ADTS, Travelers, Customer Bulletins, Airworthiness Directives, test specifications and other manufacturing/inspection related documentation.
  3. Must possess working knowledge and application of Quality Assurance or Quality Control systems and methodologies.
  4. Must possess a verifiable working knowledge of FAA Regulations, Orders, and other guidance pertinent to issuance of export airworthiness approvals & conformity determination as defined in FAA Order 8100.8D Appendix A (as revised) and as revised).
  5. Able to complete FAA/ODA initial/recurrent designee training within established timeframe to include obtaining a passing certificate as part of IAR application process.
  6. Must be capable of obtaining IAR designee appointment within established timeframe depending on Airworthiness and Conformity function code(s) required for position.
  7. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
