We are seeking a highly skilled Sonographer/Technologist to join our team at Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging team, you will be responsible for performing and assisting with ultrasound imaging exams, ensuring high-quality images and excellent patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Perform and assist with ultrasound imaging exams, following department protocols and institutional safety standards.
- Verify informed consent and ensure patient safety during procedures.
- Corroborate patient clinical history with ordered procedures and document information in the patient's medical record.
- Identify and escalate emergency situations, managing until appropriate personnel arrive.
- Provide patient education and training to students and other learners in the Radiology environment.
- Participate in quality improvement processes and continuous assessment of performance.
- Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT) as a sonographer ARRT(S) or RDMS or CCI certification in medical sonography or RDCS certification in cardiac sonography or RVT certification as Vascular Technologist.
- Current Certification by ARRT (S) or RDMS or RDCS or CCI or RVT Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers).
- One (1) year of previous work experience as a Sonographer/Technologist.
- Preferred: One (1)-3 years of previous work experience as a Sonographer/Technologist, previous work experience in an academic medical center environment, and a Bachelor's Degree in a radiologic technology, sonography, or vascular sonography.
This role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple priorities, and interact with patients and staff in a professional and compassionate manner. The successful candidate will be able to lift 20-50 lbs, stand for prolonged periods, and work in a noisy environment.
