Job Overview:
The Portfolio Manager for Project Finance at CoBank is responsible for managing relationships and providing credit support to primary Relationship Managers. This role involves the origination, structuring, execution, and oversight of Project Finance transactions related to power and energy infrastructure. The Portfolio Manager collaborates closely with Relationship Managers and Credit Analysts on internal credit assessments, research, and financial modeling tasks. Additionally, this position includes mentoring junior staff and ensuring the profitability and credit quality of account relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently oversee a portfolio of complex power, water, energy, and utility transactions, including both new and existing accounts.
- Provide expert guidance on refinancing existing borrowers, amendments, consents, and waivers.
- Assist Relationship Managers in communicating with essential internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Credit Analysts to analyze financial data and conduct due diligence for financing arrangements.
- Draft eligibility opinions and internal risk assessments as part of the due diligence process.
- Support Relationship Managers in origination and structuring of new business opportunities.
- Address customer inquiries related to billing and documentation.
- Ensure adherence to profitability and credit quality targets for the portfolio.
- Conduct compliance monitoring and follow up on covenant violations.
- Maintain expertise in customer segments and stay updated on industry trends and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the banking or financial services sector, particularly in power, water, energy, or utilities.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in Project Finance is essential.
- Strong understanding of accounting, finance, and corporate valuation.
- Familiarity with commercial lending, loan structuring, and financing alternatives.
- Advanced skills in Project Finance financial modeling and auditing.
- Knowledge of industry standards, trends, and regulatory requirements.
- Proven analytical skills to assess credits, contracts, and various deal structures.
- Ability to create compelling marketing presentations for clients.
- Strong organizational and time management capabilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Willingness to travel occasionally (up to 25%).
Physical Requirements:
Sedentary work with occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds. The role primarily involves sitting, with brief periods of walking or standing.
Travel Requirements:
Occasional travel, typically once a month or less.
