Job Title: Professional Tutor

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Professional Tutor to provide one-on-one or group tutoring to students. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tutoring to students with coursework in an office environment or online
  • Work with students to develop a tutoring plan that fits their individual needs
  • Offer assistance with developing study strategies
  • Make file notes and communicate with professors, academic coaches, and/or directors about student progress per department policies
  • Operate computer and other resources to provide tutoring on-site or remotely
  • Be accessible to students who have come for assistance
  • Complete paperwork in a timely manner

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Assist with facilitation in the distance learning classroom
  • Support students in the development of vital college success skills such as executive functioning and study skills
  • Serve as a case-manager/academic coach for high-support students
  • Facilitate the virtual component of IVDL courses or distance-learning courses in a physical classroom

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts earned by date of employment
  • Tutoring and/or teaching experience (education and experience may be gained concurrently)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with a wide variety of students with academic risk factors
  • Ability to explain concepts to others effectively
  • Comfortable working with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Good organizational skills
  • Patience and positive attitudes in establishing an encouraging learning environment
  • Miami University classroom experience
