Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Manufacturing Process Engineer who leverages their expertise in sheet metal fabrication to facilitate the introduction of innovative products and enhance the performance of existing offerings. This role involves contributing to the design and optimization of manufacturing workflows that align with Ace Precision Machining's objectives regarding cost efficiency, quality assurance, timely delivery, and safety compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Utilizes advanced engineering principles, including mechanics, metallurgy, thermodynamics, and statistical analysis, to contribute to various engineering projects while adhering to budgetary, quality, delivery, and safety standards.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in sheet metal processes such as deep draw hydroforming, hydraulic pressing, and roll forming, including heat treatment techniques.
  • Plans and coordinates engineering initiatives using effective project management methodologies.
  • Implements lean manufacturing and Six Sigma strategies to identify opportunities for process validation, continuous enhancement, and waste minimization.
  • Generates project status reports by gathering, analyzing, and summarizing relevant data and trends, providing strategic recommendations for future actions.
  • Creates detailed manufacturing sketches or routings in accordance with customer specifications and company standards.
  • Issues Engineering Change Notices to update routings, sketches, and work instructions to reflect process modifications.
  • Documents clear and precise explanations for all project and process adjustments.
  • Responds promptly to internal stakeholders and supports efforts to ensure products meet established customer requirements.
  • Manages product disposition and any necessary rework.
  • Engages in discussions regarding complex projects with Project Engineering Managers, Sales teams, production staff, and other stakeholders.
  • Employs effective time management and organizational skills to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.
  • May require occasional travel to engage with external clients.
  • Operates under general supervision while maintaining or exceeding production standards through effective organization and planning.
  • Adheres to Ace Precision Machining's Quality System work instruction requirements governing engineering operations.
  • Complies with safety protocols and accurately completes all necessary documentation.
  • Contributes to team efforts by providing assistance in various areas as needed.

Qualifications:
To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications:
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited institution, along with a minimum of five years of relevant manufacturing experience.
  • Experience in sheet metal processes, including deep draw hydroforming, hydraulic pressing, and heat treatment.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks, along with strong skills in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Preferred knowledge of lean manufacturing and/or Six Sigma methodologies, with the ability to apply statistical techniques in a manufacturing context. Six Sigma certification is advantageous.

Language Proficiency:
Ability to read and interpret complex sketches, routings, operating instructions, and procedural manuals in English. Strong communication skills are essential for effective interaction with employees and stakeholders, as well as responding to technical inquiries from regulatory bodies or business partners.

Mathematical Skills:
Competence in applying mathematical concepts, including arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, and statistics, and understanding their practical applications.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to identify problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Requires initiative and sound judgment in decision-making. Detail-oriented with the capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize effectively, and plan both short- and long-term projects. Results-driven and a self-starter who can think strategically while collaborating as part of a team.
