Job Description

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will collaborate with the engineering team and other professionals to develop world-class manufacturing equipment.

This position involves designing and detailing complex, precision components and assemblies, as well as preparing bills of material for production using the latest 3D software.

Key Responsibilities
  • Generate cost-effective and manufacturable design concepts to solve complex problems.
  • Transform mechanical assemblies or concepts into engineered, fully detailed, and functioning designs that meet all design constraints.
  • Select and specify power transmission, motion control, and other purchased components.
  • Prepare detailed mechanical drawings and bills of material for production.
  • Understand and apply precision component detailing, including dimensional tolerances, geometric tolerances, and general drafting practices.
  • Manage time effectively to complete projects on schedule.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical design, with a preference for machine design-related experience.
  • BSME preferred, but an associate's degree and relevant work experience will be considered.
  • SolidWorks experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate with modeling experience in another 3D CAD package.
  • Interest in manufacturing and general understanding of machine shop practices, strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Experience in power transmission design, hydraulics, automation, machine tool fixture design, bearing selection, ballscrew selection, and tooling design will be given priority.
  • Organized and detailed thought process.
  • Self-directed with excellent work ethic.
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic 2D CAD design skills, preferably with AutoCad.
Working Conditions
  • Occasionally required to lift 25 pounds unassisted.
  • Occasionally stands and moves throughout the shop.
  • Regularly sits throughout the day.
  • Occasionally climbs, stoops, kneels, reaches, and carries.
  • Regularly utilizes depth perception, peripheral vision, and close focus.
  • Regularly operates a computer and computer accessories.
