We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Architectural Design Assistant to join our team at Air Force Civilian Career Training.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will assist in the design and development of architectural projects, including new constructions, renovations, and improvements to real property facilities.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the preparation of architect and engineer (A&E) statements of work (SOW)
  • Coordinate projects with architects in other disciplines or with engineers
  • Use computers and computer software such as information management programs, computer aided design and drafting (CADD) programs, and project tracking programs to assist higher-grade architects in solving architectural problems and facilitate the work
  • Comply with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures and perform work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment
  • Participate in design work for new constructions, renovations, and improvements to real property facilities, including utility systems, utilizing a professional knowledge of architecture
Requirements:
  • Recent graduates or current students enrolled in accredited educational institutions from high school to graduate level
  • U.S. Citizenship is required
  • Males must be registered for Selective Service
  • Total salary varies depending on location of position
  • If authorized, PCS will be paid IAW JTR and AF Regulations
  • Recruitment incentives may be authorized
  • This position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program
  • Position may be subject to random drug testing
  • Employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, to include evenings, weekends and/or holidays
  • Shift work and emergency overtime may be required
Qualifications:
  • In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, for Professional and Scientific Positions and Professional Engineering Positions
  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) include:
    • Professional knowledge of architectural concepts and principles and standard engineering practices, methods, and techniques
    • Skill in preparing graphs, curves, or tables
    • Ability to search technical reports, manufacturers' catalogs, and other guidelines to obtain information
    • Ability to use relevant software programs and use computer aided design and drafting programs (CADD)
    • Ability to work cooperatively as a team member in design of real property facilities
    • Ability to make calculations applying standard formulas, prepare graphs, curves, or tables, and record factual data in tests and observation studies
Education:
  • If using education to qualify, you must submit transcripts with the application
  • Official transcripts are not required at the time of application; however, if position has a positive degree requirement, qualifying based on education alone or in combination with experience; transcripts must be verified prior to appointment

  • This position is being filled under Direct-Hire Authority for the DoD for Post-Secondary Students and Recent Graduates
  • The Secretary of the Air Force has delegated authority by the Office of the Secretary of Defense to directly appoint qualified students and recent graduates directly into competitive service positions
  • Positions may be filled as permanent/term with a full-time/part-time work schedule
  • Pay will vary by geographic location
