Job Overview

The Aerospace Quality Assurance Manager will be responsible for overseeing and directing all quality assurance and control functions within our aerospace manufacturing operations. This position is vital in ensuring that our products meet industry standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Quality Management System (QMS): Ensure the maintenance of the company's Quality Management System in alignment with industry standards such as AS9100 and ISO. Guarantee compliance with regulatory mandates and customer specifications.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and develop a team of quality inspectors and engineers. Provide mentorship, training, and support to promote effective performance and professional growth.
  • Quality Assurance: Supervise quality assurance activities including inspection, testing, and validation of materials and finished products. Confirm that all products conform to required specifications and standards prior to delivery.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for process enhancement and spearhead initiatives aimed at improving product quality, minimizing defects, and boosting operational efficiency. Employ industry-standard methodologies to foster continuous improvement.
  • Customer Engagement: Act as the primary liaison for quality-related inquiries from customers. Address and resolve any quality issues or complaints promptly and effectively.
  • Supplier Relations: Communicate with suppliers regarding non-conformance issues, ensuring follow-up with Root Cause and Corrective Actions as necessary. Collaborate with engineering and suppliers to resolve any processing challenges.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain thorough quality records and documentation. Prepare and present quality performance reports to senior management, emphasizing key metrics, trends, and areas for enhancement.
  • Audits and Inspections: Manage and conduct both internal and external audits. Ensure that corrective and preventive actions are effectively implemented and monitored.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on industry regulations, standards, and best practices. Ensure that all products and processes comply with applicable aerospace industry regulations and safety standards.
  • NIST and CMMC Collaboration: Collaborate closely with the Information Technology department and Senior Management during the development and implementation of NIST and CMMC maturity plans. Report progress as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field is preferred; however, significant relevant experience in quality management within the aerospace or manufacturing sector will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in quality and/or quality management within the aerospace industry.
  • Strong understanding of aerospace industry standards and regulations (e.g., AS9100).
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing a quality team, with a proven track record of driving process improvements and achieving quality goals.
  • Experience with CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) programming.
  • Familiarity with NIST and CMMC requirements is advantageous.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively interacting with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and ERP systems. Familiarity with statistical analysis and data-driven decision-making is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

The role requires regular standing, walking, and the use of hands/fingers to handle parts. The work environment is typical of a machining plant, with some tasks involving machine measurement or analysis of produced parts. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Movement between facilities may be necessary.
