Key ResponsibilitiesRole Summary:
The Exercise Physiologist will analyze patient health data and create individualized exercise plans based on physician recommendations. The focus will be on ensuring that these programs are effective and medically appropriate to enhance patient health and fitness.
Primary Duties:
- Collaborate with nursing staff to conduct comprehensive health assessments, particularly focusing on cardiovascular health and metabolic function.
- Design and implement personalized exercise programs aimed at maintaining health, minimizing disease risk, and facilitating recovery from cardiothoracic conditions.
- Administer Phase II Cardiac Rehabilitation exercise therapy in alignment with established guidelines from relevant health organizations.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient progress and outcomes in accordance with departmental protocols.
- Provide educational sessions for patients, families, and community groups as necessary.
Education and Experience:
A Bachelor's degree in exercise science or a related field is required, along with relevant work experience that demonstrates the necessary knowledge and skills, ideally within a cardiac rehabilitation setting.
Licensure and Certification:
- Must obtain certification from the American College of Sports Medicine as a Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist (RCEP) or Certified Exercise Specialist (CES) within one year of employment.
- Preferred credentialing as a Medical Assistant-Registered.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred.
- ACSM Certification is also preferred.
