Position Overview
This role will report to a Senior Managing Counsel within the Commercial and Money Movement Solutions (CMS) Legal team.

Key Responsibilities
You will be tasked with:

  • Providing comprehensive legal guidance and support to the CMS division on a variety of intricate commercial issues and initiatives, including Visa Direct for Card, Account and Wallet, Visa+, Alias Directory, and other CMS offerings.
  • Navigating the intricate landscape of money movement regulations while collaborating with experienced attorneys across different regions.
  • Engaging and overseeing external legal counsel on various matters, critically assessing legal analyses, and translating advice into clear, actionable recommendations for business teams.
  • Contributing to Visa's thought leadership in the money movement sector and assisting in the development of innovative products and services.
  • Understanding Visa's strategic objectives, recognizing interconnections between various matters, and proactively ensuring these are addressed to manage legal risks effectively.
  • Managing daily legal inquiries and leading all pertinent legal activities.
  • Educating business units on legal frameworks, processes, and policies.
  • Building and maintaining relationships to ensure effective legal support delivery, collaborating with other Visa departments globally to align with business needs.
  • Actively enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the Legal, Ethics & Compliance division.

Work Environment
This is a hybrid role, requiring employees to alternate between remote work and office attendance. Employees in hybrid positions are expected to work from the office 2-3 designated days per week, based on departmental needs.

Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who possess:

  • 10+ years of legal experience with a Bachelor's Degree, or 8+ years with an Advanced Degree (e.g., Masters/MBA/JD/MD), or 3+ years with a PhD.
  • Admission to practice law in the United States and in good standing.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Strong academic credentials.

Preferred Qualifications
Additional desirable qualifications include:

  • 12+ years of legal experience with a Bachelor's Degree, or 8-10 years with an Advanced Degree, or 6+ years with a PhD.
  • Experience in commercial law and regulations within a multi-jurisdictional context.
  • A solid understanding of in-house operations within a large technology firm.
  • A keen interest in becoming an expert advisor in the payments industry.

Additional Information
Work Hours: Varies based on departmental needs.
Travel Requirements: This position may require travel 5-10% of the time.
Mental/Physical Requirements: This role will be performed in an office environment, requiring the ability to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and via telephone, and operate standard office equipment.
