Job Summary

Catholic Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Vascular Specialist to join our team. As an Advanced Practice Provider, you will be responsible for the assessment and care of selected patients in the designated service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform assessments of all patients, including interviews, physical exams, and reviewing/ordering diagnostic tests.
  • Provide instructions and guidance regarding medical care matters to patients.
  • Recognize and report relevant information that requires urgent attention.
  • Update diagnoses/problem list and collaborate with physicians to develop and manage a care plan with the patient.
  • Accurately document physical findings, diagnostics, diagnoses, plans of care in the patient's record/EHR in a timely manner.
  • Triage phone calls for physicians and respond to questions according to the patient care plan and/or physician orders.
  • Arrange referrals and consultations with non-medical healthcare professionals and arrange for medical consultations after discussion with or when directed by a physician or designee.
  • Communicate appropriate follow-up information to referring physicians.
  • Provide patient teaching and facilitate communication between other providers, caregivers, and staff.
  • Serve as a liaison between staff physicians and patients.
  • Perform routine diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as needed.
  • Perform procedures granted through the credentialing process.
  • Work collaboratively with and provide direction to the members of the multi-professional team.
  • Provide and promote effective and compassionate care for patients and their families.
  • Ensure confidentiality of employee, legal, client/patient, budget, and all company matters.
  • Adhere to infection control procedures and safety control procedures and Universal Precautions.
  • Demonstrate courtesy, respect, and caring to patients, families, physicians, and coworkers and maintain professional rapport with external parties and organizations.
  • Participate in staff meetings and cooperate with physicians and coworkers to achieve departmental objectives. Report concerns and problems as they arise.
  • Keep knowledge base current by reading professional literature and attending educational programs; apply, under the direction of the physician, current evidence-based research applicable to the vein and vascular patient population.
  • Assist surgeons with endovascular or sclerotherapy procedures as required.
  • Maintain all appropriate privileges at Catholic Medical Center.
  • Participate in new program development(s) for Vein and Vascular center.
  • Participate in Performance Improvement programs.
  • Participate in appropriate roles in disasters, fire drills, and other emergency situations.
  • Exercise care in the operation and use of equipment and reference materials. Maintain work area in a clean, safe, and organized manner.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and apply safety principles as identified by institution.
  • Perform efficiently in emergency situations following established protocols, remaining calm, informing appropriate persons, and documenting events.
  • Discuss research protocols with Research coordinators as appropriate.
  • Participate in continuing development activities, maintain professional affiliations and licenses, and strive to increase skill and knowledge.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of computers and telecommunication modalities to document, track, and convey information.
  • Maintain BCLS and ACLS authorization and membership in professional organizations. Must be completed through the American Heart Association.
  • As required, provide precept/teaching of new hires.
  • Adhere to guidelines for appropriate billing and coding all patient encounters. Promptly submit billing information.
  • Attend seminars and workshops for professional growth and development.
  • Perform similar or related duties as assigned or directed.
Work Schedule
  • Four 10-hour day shifts/week
  • On-call weekend coverage rotated through the practice; currently 1 in every 4 weekends

On-call start for new grad hires will be determined on a case-by-case basis

Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner Program
  • Recommend three (3) or more years as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner with a minimum of one (1) year vascular experience
  • Licensed by the state of NH as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required. Must maintain BLS throughout employment. Must be completed through the American Heart Association.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support). Must maintain ACLS throughout employment. Must be completed through the American Heart Association.
