About the Role

Texas Health Action is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing access to culturally affirming, quality health services. We are seeking a Medical Assistant to join our San Antonio Kind Clinic team.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will provide administrative and clinical support to our healthcare team. This includes preparing patients for clinic visits, obtaining medical histories, acquiring vital signs, and assisting with laboratory procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Effectively room and prepare patients for clinic visits
  • Obtain and record patient medical histories
  • Acquire vital signs
  • Assist with phlebotomy and lab specimen processing
  • Dispense medication and provide STI treatments as directed
  • Evaluate provider requests for accuracy and completeness
  • Thoroughly clean and stock exam rooms
  • Maintain confidentiality according to clinic policies and HIPAA guidelines
  • Foster teamwork within the clinic
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program
  • Phlebotomy Certification
  • BLS Certification within 90 days of hire
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Experience in HIV testing and treatment clinics
  • 2+ years of experience working with diverse populations
