Job SummaryWe are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to provide high-quality patient care in our practice. As a Medical Assistant, you will be responsible for scheduling appointments, checking-in and checking-out patients, and performing administrative tasks.
You will work closely with our nursing staff to ensure that all patients receive efficient and effective care. Your expertise will be valued as you take patient histories, vital signs, and prepare exam rooms for treatments. You may also assist physicians with minor surgeries and physicals, and perform other duties as required.
Responsibilities:- Scheduling and canceling patient appointments
- Checking-in and checking-out patients
- Entering charges and payments
- Answering the telephone
- Verifying patient insurance and demographics
- Collecting co-payments/coinsurance and personal balances
- Performing selected administrative duties and assisting nursing staff
- May collect patient specimens
- Taking patient histories and vital signs
- Preparing exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments
- Giving injections, and applying casts, splints, and dressings, as applicable
- Preparing and maintaining supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization
- Assisting physician in preparing for minor surgeries and physicals
To be successful as a Medical Assistant at HCA Healthcare, you will need:
- One year of Medical Assisting or other direct clinical patient care experience in a healthcare setting
- Medical Assistant Certification (NCRMA certification/ABR-- required) or willingness to obtain certification within 60 days of employment
