Electrician Assistant

Arcon Electric is seeking a skilled Electrician Helper to join our team. As an Electrician Helper, you will assist senior electricians with basic electrical systems installations, including the installation, additions, alterations, and repairs of electrical systems, conductors, and associated materials and equipment.

• Assist in bending conduit, pulling wire, and lighting layout
• Perform all electrical tasks with general supervision
• Learn to install controls and electrical distribution packages, such as panels, disconnects, switches, relays, and circuit breakers
• Work as a team and maintain positive communication with colleagues and field supervisors
• Assist in assembling, installing, testing, or maintaining electrical or electronic wiring equipment, appliances, apparatus, or fixtures
• Assist in repairing or replacing wiring equipment or fixtures using hand tools and power tools
• Monitor processes, materials, and surroundings to detect and assess problems
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

• Ability to troubleshoot circuits and equipment
• Ability to troubleshoot lighting and learn lighting control systems
• Ability to learn and follow the National Electrical Code
• Understand and read schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications
• Ability to accept direction and follow established company procedures
• Ability to measure, cut, bend, assemble, and install electrical conduit
• Knowledge and ability to install electrical rough-in materials
• Ability to be on time, ready to work, and ready to learn
• Ability to work independently and self-manage
• Good listening skills to effectively follow instructions and directions
• Ability to use electrical and hand tools, such as wire strippers and voltmeters
• Good color vision and ability to distinguish wires based on their colors
• Good physical strength and stamina to work effectively in a hazardous and uncomfortable environment
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills and ability to establish and maintain constructive and corporation working relationships

• Job requires working in all elements, depending on the job location and time of the year, to include heat, cold, wind, and rain
• Must be able to sit, reach, stand, crawl, stoop, bend, crouch, kneel, push, and pull objects and routinely lift heavy objects in excess of 50 pounds
• The nature of the work may require working in restricted areas, such as closets, tunnels, crawl spaces, and attics
• Must be able to perform work at various heights of up to 50 feet from ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, cat walks, or other safe work areas
• Know how to operate scissor lifts
• Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers
• Perform physically demanding tasks, such as digging trenches to lay conduit or moving or lifting heavy objects. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of the job
• Able to work 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, and overtime as required
• Wear personal protective equipment, such as a hard hat and safety glasses, at all times and a respirator when required
