Position Summary

The Automotive Lead Technician plays a pivotal role in diagnosing and repairing automotive systems. This position involves hands-on service and maintenance of vehicles, ensuring high-quality workmanship.

Key Responsibilities

Customer and Vehicle Service (85%)

  • Conduct thorough road tests on vehicles before and after service.
  • Perform inspections on assigned vehicles in accordance with BSRO protocols, reporting findings to management.
  • Assist in diagnostic procedures and provide clear explanations of mechanical issues and necessary repairs to non-technical personnel.
  • Execute tasks in various areas including brakes, electrical systems, engine performance, heating and air conditioning, suspension, and transmissions.
  • Keep management informed of any mechanical repair issues as they arise.
  • Engage in additional duties as required for efficient store operations, such as tire installations and handling automotive supplies.
  • Drive company vehicles for parts pick-up and drop-off as needed.
  • Adhere to BSRO methods, standards, and procedures while continuously updating technical knowledge through training.
  • Maintain necessary certifications and licenses as required.
  • Follow all BSRO Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies.

Miscellaneous Functions (15%)

  • Ensure cleanliness and organization within the service area.
  • Monitor the maintenance and operational efficiency of tools and equipment.
  • Comply with safety policies and regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment.
  • Participate in meetings as required and assist in training new team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Physical Demands

Physical tasks may include lifting, pushing, and pulling heavy items, as well as performing repetitive motions. The role may require working in varying temperatures and conditions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong reading, writing, and mathematical skills.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of automotive repair experience or completion of a related vocational program.
  • A.S.E. certification in at least three areas is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively to non-technical individuals.
