Position: Therapeutic Assistant at Richland District One

In the role of Therapeutic Assistant, you will play a vital part in addressing the emotional and behavioral challenges faced by students. Your primary responsibility will be to assist in managing behavior issues while fostering both academic and social development within the educational environment. Collaborating closely with educators and administrative staff, you will work to minimize classroom disruptions and provide individualized support to students in need.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist students in their academic tasks, ensuring they remain engaged and focused.
  • Support students experiencing emotional difficulties that may affect their behavior, providing necessary interventions and documenting incidents.
  • Collaborate with psychologists and teachers to develop behavior management strategies and conduct counseling sessions, either individually or in groups.
  • Plan and facilitate recreational, educational, and therapeutic activities to promote student engagement.
  • Adapt instructional materials to meet the diverse needs of students, working alongside colleagues and families to enhance student outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, utilize office equipment, and communicate effectively with staff, students, and parents.
  • Adhere to educational regulations and policies to ensure a safe and inclusive atmosphere for all learners.
  • Supervise students during non-instructional times and perform additional administrative duties as necessary.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in education, special education, child development, or a related discipline, along with a minimum of one year of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and training is required.
