Job Summary

The Electrical Engineer II will be responsible for designing and conducting analysis to support the development of battery packs, chargers, and safety systems.

This engineer will lead concept phase, design activities, reviews, and reports design progress with limited supervision. Assignments are broad in nature, requiring appreciable initiative, originality, ingenuity, and excellent problem-solving skills.

The engineer will also be responsible for technical support of some mature electronic products currently in production and will work in a team-based environment to support development through test verification and manufacturing.

Responsibilities
  1. Complete ownership of the electrical design for the project with limited supervision from senior-level engineers.
  2. Perform worst-case circuit analysis.
  3. Perform de-ratings for the entire electrical design.
  4. Design and document robust hardware architecture and structure suitable for use in high-reliability applications.
  5. Lead electrical hardware component selection/optimization for microcontrollers and battery/charger management devices.
  6. Provide necessary sustaining support to existing products and work in a cross-functional team environment to assure electrical system-level integration and design for manufacturability.
  7. Be familiar with Electrical DFMEAs to ensure products conform to customer specifications and requirements.
  8. Construct prototypes; evaluate and document their performance; identify possible improvements.
  9. Explore new and existing circuit designs and methods to solve design challenges.
  10. Maintain an awareness of customer requirements and any complaints to identify any areas that may need development or improvement.
  11. Be able to work with various design sites globally.
  12. Prepare technical reports.
  13. Establish a culture of learning, openness, and accountability.
Requirements
  1. Minimum of a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
  2. Minimum 3 years of experience in electronics manufacturing in the consumer, telecom, automotive, and/or military industries.
  3. Fluent in English (spoken and written).
  4. Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
  5. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products required.
  6. Experience with electrical CAD modeling systems (i.e., Altium, OrCAD/Cadence) required.
  7. Must be able to perform electrical schematic capture and conduct PCB layout.
  8. Strong quantitative, design, analytical, and problem-solving skills required.
  9. Must have a strong understanding of digital and analog circuitry; experience with system interfaces such as I2C, SPI, CAN, RS-232, USB, and/or Ethernet is highly desirable.
  10. Strong understanding of DC power electronics is required.
