Position Overview:
The Electronics Project Engineer will play a crucial role in the research, design, development, and testing of innovative sensors and electronic technologies as guided by the Advanced Technology Group (ATG) Steering Committee.
- Determine materials and components essential for the design of electronic and embedded systems, components, and assemblies.
- Create and refine designs for electronic sensors, systems, and assemblies.
- Construct and evaluate prototypes for newly proposed electronic sensors and systems.
- Perform stress analyses and optimize designs for sensor integration into products.
- Identify and suggest manufacturing processes and equipment for integrated sensor initiatives.
- Assist in the development of cost-effective prototype production strategies for new designs, including the specification and acquisition of necessary equipment, tooling, and components.
- Formulate comprehensive test plans based on industry standards or tailored applications to validate new product concepts, materials, and processes.
- Draft clear testing procedures and detailed reports promptly to adhere to project timelines.
- Set clear objectives, timelines, and performance expectations for each electronic program to ensure precise definitions.
- Coordinate technical design and testing aspects of new initiatives with suppliers and various company divisions.
- Develop and present technical materials for internal audiences, supplementing presentation information as required.
- Drive continuous improvement through employee development, process enhancement, and waste reduction.
- Adhere to company quality standards.
- Stay informed on industry best practices and emerging technologies.
- Oversee concept development programs to achieve packaging, performance, and cost objectives.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline is required.
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or mechatronics is preferred.
- A Master's degree or higher is advantageous.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in an engineering capacity is required.
- Willingness to travel as necessary, up to 10% of the time.
- Experience in electronic engineering or embedded systems is preferred.
- Background in product design is preferred.
- Experience in manufacturing processes is preferred.
- Familiarity with mechatronics for challenging environments is preferred.
- Proficiency in 3D printing techniques and material properties is required.
- Expertise in mechanical design software tools is required (e.g., NX, ProE, SolidWorks, Creo, etc.).
- Understanding of electronics and the ability to interpret schematics.
- Experience with testing, data acquisition, and analysis tools.
- Capability to manage significant development projects and meet deadlines; strong time management skills.
- Experience in product innovation.
