Job Summary

As a key member of our nursing department, you will be responsible for implementing and supervising direct nursing care, providing program planning and development, and overseeing the clinical and administrative activities of our team.

Responsibilities
  • Implement and supervise direct nursing care provided by the nursing department on designated shifts
  • Provide program planning, development, review, and evaluation of clinical and administrative activities
  • Use critical thinking and independent judgment to direct, coordinate, and oversee nursing and other healthcare services
  • Supervise a multidisciplinary team, including professional, para-professional support staff, nursing students, and interns
  • Assign direct report employees to work with clients based on individual needs and staff skill sets
  • Provide clinical assistance and oversight of staff performing case management and care coordination
  • Investigate and respond to issues and grievances, escalating matters as necessary
  • Collaborate with other shifts to ensure accurate and complete documentation in medical records and timely referral to attending physicians
Requirements
  • Two years of psychiatric direct care nursing experience and at least two years of experience in a supervisory role
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and current licensure as a Registered Nurse by the State of California
  • CPR, Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), and First Aid certification
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current knowledge of psychiatric illnesses, regulatory requirements, and infection control
Skills
  • Demonstrated skill in leadership and supervision
  • Ability to review and implement Recovery/Treatment plans
  • Ability to administer oral and injectable medications
  • Ability to provide input and ask appropriate questions
  • Ability to implement crisis de-escalation techniques
Physical Demands

The physical demands of this job include sitting, walking, bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting items weighing 25 pounds or less. The position requires manual dexterity, repetition, and Hazardous Exposure (Blood Borne Pathogens, Hospital Waste, Chemical & Infectious).
