Physical Therapist II Supervisor

Under limited technical supervision, the Physical Therapist II Supervisor uses skill, judgment, and knowledge of daily operations to supervise a small group of physical therapists, aides, and students. The ideal candidate will efficiently evaluate and treat a broad spectrum of patients, communicate effectively with staff members, physicians, and other disciplines, and assist with program planning.
Key Responsibilities- Attends team meetings and conferences on patient care and discharge planning.
- Communicates with family, case managers, health insurers, and other stakeholders.
- Confers with other PTs, aides, and department managers for problem-solving and program planning.
- Completes required administrative forms for leave of absences, payroll, and other purposes.
- Writes clear, concise, and objective information on patient evaluations, progress notes, discharge notes, equipment orders, and insurance forms.
- Participates in gathering data for Continuing Quality Assurance, Performance Improvement, staff surveys, and other initiatives.
- Uses appropriate safety measures, including body mechanics, infection control, and environmental hazard control.
- Administers comprehensive PT evaluations, using tests and measurements appropriate for the patient's diagnosis, age, and disabilities.
- Assesses the need for assistive devices and orders necessary equipment.
- Delegates PT tasks to PT Aides, PT Assistants, or PT Is.
- Develops and implements treatment plans using various physical therapy procedures, group classes, modalities, and techniques.
- Educates patients, families, and caregivers in self-care, prevention, and wellness, home exercise programs, use of equipment, and safety.
- Accepts responsibility for non-patient care duties, such as task forces, in-service training, and IOP.
- Assigns new patients to team therapists, considering workloads, patient variety, and clinical expertise.
- Orients and supervises new staff members and students, ensuring their competence in patient care.
- Evaluates PT Is, PT Assistants, and PT Aides, and helps evaluate students fairly and accurately.
- Graduation from an approved school of Physical Therapy.
- At least one year of experience in the class of Physical Therapist I as employed by Alameda Health System, or two years or more of recent experience in another clinical setting related to the area of proposed supervision.
- Eligibility for, or possession of, a valid certificate to practice as a Registered Physical Therapist in the State of California.
