Job Summary

Burns & McDonnell is a leading engineering and architecture firm with a strong presence in the Mission Critical industry. We are seeking a highly skilled Computational Fluid Dynamics Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Mission Critical team, you will be responsible for leading the creation and development of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) design models. Your expertise will be crucial in adapting CFD models according to budget constraints, design factors, or client needs for the Mission Critical Industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead CFD analysis of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion for project needs and requirements set forth by project managers.
  • Apply knowledge of commonly used CFD concepts, practices, and procedures within the CFD services industry.
  • Apply knowledge and experience to complex projects, finding non-standard design solutions.
  • Prepare and present technical reports for clients.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction goals and expectations are met.
  • Ensure QA/QC process adherence.
  • Effectively communicate with other engineering disciplines.
  • Review engineering team design information pertaining to CFD analysis detail modeling requirements.
  • Advise on modeling information exchange and need by dates.
  • Perform wind speed and weather probability analysis.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and 3 years of mechanical engineering experience, consulting preferred.
  • Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and 2 years of mechanical engineering experience, consulting preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years related professional experience in CFD analysis preferred.
  • Experience in the Mission Critical industry is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.
  • Experience in steady-state and transient CFD modeling is preferred.
  • Experience with Ansys Fluent and Space claim products is preferred.
  • Proficient in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Strong computer skills include AutoCAD, BIM (Revit), 3D Rendering Programs, hydraulic analysis, and HVAC analysis programs.
  • Experience with Cadence 6Sigma is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Engineers in Training-EIT Certification Preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected compensation range for this position is $100,000 - $165,000. Our extensive benefits package takes care of you so that you can focus on doing great work. Location and Schedule

This position is based in the US, with primary locations in NY-Troy and other locations in CT-Wallingford and NY-Manhattan. The schedule is full-time, with occasional travel required (25% of the time).
