Job Overview

We are in search of a skilled and detail-oriented Precision Mechanical Assembly Technician to join our team. This role involves executing a range of assembly tasks, including the assembly and testing of mechanical valves.

This position operates on a day shift schedule, typically spanning four days a week, with ten-hour workdays. The standard hours are from 5:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Thursday. Candidates should be prepared to work additional shifts and overtime as necessary to fulfill production demands.

Location
Our facility is dedicated to the fabrication, assembly, and testing of advanced propulsion systems, including chemical and electric thrusters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct a variety of manufacturing tasks to ensure the production of high-quality components.
  • Assemble piece parts into completed sub-assemblies using standard assembly tools, and perform final assembly, quality testing, and rework as required.
  • Execute mechanical assembly and testing of valves and other components as assigned.
  • Handle precision components within a controlled environment.
  • Interpret product drawings and departmental procedures accurately.
  • Perform diverse, semi-repetitive operations following established methods and procedures.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams for equipment setup and calibration.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical assemblies and perform pressure testing.
  • Engage in electrical fabrication, with a preference for IPC 620 certification.
  • Utilize various computer systems and software for work instructions and manufacturing processes.
  • Assist in developing methods to enhance manufacturing processes and collect relevant data.
  • Address equipment issues and propose solutions.
  • Make precise adjustments to machinery controls under supervision.
  • Conduct mathematical calculations with accuracy.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding project status and priorities.
  • Maintain proper safety and housekeeping protocols while providing support.
  • Perform additional technician duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess a High School Diploma or equivalent, along with a minimum of four years of relevant experience, or two years of post-secondary education with up to two years of related experience.

Preferred Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to follow detailed work instructions and procedures.
  • Strong comprehension of mechanical assembly and valve testing.
  • Familiarity with electrical testing equipment, including DMM and oscilloscopes.
  • Experience with tools for crimping and soldering.
  • Ability to foster cooperative working relationships within the team.
  • Knowledge of 5S and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.
  • Capability to obtain cleanroom access certification within the initial months of employment.
  • Experience with Oracle and Delmia systems is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with vacuum chambers and laminar flow environments is a plus.
  • IPC 620 certification is preferred.
