About the Role

Bayer is seeking a highly skilled Environmental Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our environmental team, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a deep understanding of site operations and attend project reviews to determine environmental impact.
  • Read, interpret, plan, and implement new major regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of regulatory reports and permit applications.
  • Prepare permit applications to maximize flexibility in plant operations.
  • Complete accurate engineering calculations to support environmental emissions reporting and permit applications.
  • Review and validate information from supporting team members.
  • Develop and deliver training for site employees to comply with external and internal regulations.
  • Independently perform engineering design and calculation assignments.
  • Apply advanced technical knowledge to address noncompliance situations and work with agencies, corporate HSE, and legal to resolve.
  • Audit site environmental programs and participate in internal and global management system audits.
  • Support the analysis and resolution of minor operation interruptions and upsets related to environmental issues.
  • Network with Corporate and Regional Environmental teams and lead large diverse teams as needed.
  • Contribute significant technical improvements and efficiencies, and mentor engineers in the department or site.
Requirements
  • BS degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering or related discipline.
  • Preferred: BS degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering or related discipline plus 7 years of progressive engineering experience, or M.S. in Chemical or Environmental Engineering or related discipline and 4 years of progressive engineering experience.
