About the Job

As a Manufacturing Engineer at Fortune Brands Innovations, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and validating new manufacturing processes for existing and new products. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the efficient and high-quality production of our products.

Your Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement lean process development tools, systematic problem-solving, and critical thinking to improve manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement new processes for new product introductions and product changes.
  • Manage process design requirements, conduct system PFMEA's, design reviews, and utilize other robust engineering practices.
  • Liaise with corporate product design, supply chain, vendors, and manufacturing staff to ensure equipment development meets specifications.
  • Develop DVP's, coordinate testing, and provide hands-on troubleshooting to ensure process-product requirements are met.
  • Provide manufacturing and operations support throughout product development phases using DFM.
  • Work closely with the Quality department to address any outstanding internal and external quality and product issues.
  • Support cross-functional team members by mentoring on areas of expertise for technical questions and solutions in at least one engineering or product area.
  • Set examples for excellence in engineering practice and rigor by successfully coaching junior engineers inside and outside of peer reviews as well as design review.
  • Act as a manufacturing pioneer/visionary/innovation lead, bringing new technology and solutions to the team through online and in-person research at other facilities and/or trade shows.
Qualifications
  • B.S. degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred) from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 5 years process development experience.
  • Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, researching testing methods, and conferring with equipment vendors.
  • Experience to improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Experience with 3-D Parametric Solid Modeling (Solid Edge or Solid Works is a plus), Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Experience in multidisciplinary manufacturing settings.
  • Significant cross-functional experience in interfacing with sourcing, quality, and manufacturing within process & product development.
  • Management skills with combined internal and external resources.
  • Experience in equipment specification & design.
  • Superior written and oral communication skills which can deliver effectively to a broad audience.
  • Strong strategic development skills.
  • Detailed documentation and reporting experience.
  • Desire to work hands-on, prototype, and troubleshoot proactively.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to perform tolerance stack-ups, review process capability, and manage changes accordingly.
  • Experience with the development of equipment specification applied to product design.
  • Experience with automated systems, robotic applications, and implementation & programming.
  • Experience in launching complex multistep/multistage manufacturing solutions.
  • Experience with plastic materials (fiberglass composites or similar preferred) & manufacturing methods.
  • Predictive engineering and analysis experience using finite element analysis (FEA), hand calculation, or similar (Ansys, Abaqus).
  • Managing cross-functional teams and managing projects of $1M+ from cradle to grave.
  • Superior knowledge of applied mechanics.
  • Experience developing programs/systems and team development to support them (ex. APQP/PDCA).
  • Experience in fenestration products or building materials is a plus (doors, windows, wall panels, etc.).
  • Experience interfacing with intellectual property counsel.
  • Experience working with new product development design & launch teams.
