Job Title: Counselor

At Behavioral Health Group, we are seeking a skilled and compassionate Counselor to join our team. As a Counselor, you will play a vital role in helping patients overcome substance use disorders and achieve a drug-free life.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct regular counseling sessions and group sessions to support patients in their recovery journey.
  • Orient patients to treatment program operations and procedures, ensuring a smooth transition into our care.
  • Collect and assess social, educational, economic, and vocational information to develop comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Develop and revise patient treatment plans, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Make referrals and perform necessary follow-ups to ensure patients receive the best possible care.
  • Assist in implementing new programs and advise on caseload management to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Provide in-service training to staff and hold a basic understanding of addiction to ensure a cohesive and supportive team environment.
  • Conduct intake/readmission services and provide supportive follow-up counseling to patients.
  • Provide crisis intervention and inter-agency documentation to ensure patients receive timely and effective support.
  • Coordinate care with community providers as needed to ensure a seamless continuum of care.
  • Participate in and provide in-service training required by federal, state, local, and accrediting agencies to maintain compliance and excellence.
  • Attend conferences, meetings, and training programs to stay up-to-date on best practices and industry developments.
  • Schedule and attend regular in-service training to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Perform OBOT services and report any work-related issues immediately to ensure patient safety and well-being.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisory team to ensure the smooth operation of our programs.
  • Comply with all federal, state, and local regulatory agency requirements to maintain accreditation and excellence.
  • Adhere to accrediting agency standards to ensure the highest level of care and service.
  • Participate in community and public relations activities as assigned to promote our mission and values.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related Human Services field.
  • Experience in behavioral health preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to make decisions and use proper judgment with confidential and sensitive issues.
  • Ability to deal appropriately with patients and team members in stressful or other undesirable situations.
  • Ability to react quickly and make effective decisions.
  • Ability to demonstrate sufficient knowledge and understanding of human behavior to show potential for rehabilitating drug-dependent patients.
  • Knowledge of the substance abuse population, treatment planning, and the field of human social services to work toward the rehabilitation of the patient community.
  • Compliance with federal and state regulations regarding certification, licensure, and degree.
