Full-time, Day Shift, Monday through Friday, with Excellent Benefits

The Paraeducator will collaborate closely with the Education Team to ensure the safety and well-being of students engaged in the educational program. The Paraeducator will provide dedicated support to an individual student, ensuring they receive the necessary assistance to thrive academically.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Education Team to promote student safety and well-being during educational activities.
  • Function as an integral part of the academic and therapeutic team, assisting educators and supervising students in the classroom.
  • Deliver instructional support and assessment as directed by the teacher, aligning with the assigned academic curriculum or Individual Education Plan (IEP).
  • Facilitate participation in class activities, including physical education and arts.
  • Assist with morning routines within the assigned residential program as necessary.
  • Implement behavioral interventions in the classroom, utilizing established principles.
  • Support substitute lessons as assigned by the teacher or Dean of Students.
  • Maintain accurate documentation as required by the supervisor, including attendance and incident reports.
  • Oversee transitional periods, lunch, and other school activities to ensure student accountability.
  • Engage in community-based activities and appointments as assigned.
  • Provide assistance as requested by the Dean of Students or Academic Director.
  • Participate in mandatory professional training sessions.
  • Transport students for school-related activities as needed.
  • Engage in student meetings, such as IEPs, as directed.
  • Attend staff meetings as required.
  • Uphold student confidentiality and communicate pertinent information to supervisors.
  • Understand and adhere to the administrative structure and program philosophy of Mount Prospect Academy.
  • Represent Mount Prospect Academy positively to the community and stakeholders.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Successful completion of a background check.
  • Associate's Degree or higher preferred.
  • Two years of experience working with children or youth is preferred, including roles such as camp counselor, coach, or babysitter.
