About the Role

The Director of Quality and Commissioning will lead the team responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of NTT's facilities. This includes overseeing the commissioning process, ensuring successful safety, schedule, and budget execution, and identifying and resolving issues early in the design and construction process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reports to the Senior Director of Safety, Quality, and Commissioning
  • Primary responsibility for quality and commissioning efforts in the AMER region
  • Ensures the quality program is implemented, including KPIs and continuous improvement, to prevent repeat deficiencies and impact commissioning activities
  • Manages data center commissioning project delivery strategy in alignment with the roadmap strategy
  • Develops, implements, and ensures participation in the company's quality and commissioning processes
  • Develops quality and commissioning procedures and standards
  • Refines practices and policies, and develops methods and techniques for driving solutions, including quality and commissioning procedures
  • Provides global oversight of contracted commissioning agents assigned to data center construction projects in the AMER region
  • Performs and ensures site inspections are adequate to support the execution of the quality and commissioning process
  • Regularly reviews construction progress, QA/QC, commissioning progress, issues, and KPI metrics to report to management
  • Coordinates meetings and activities of vendor project managers, including integration of lessons learned
  • Attends scheduled owner/architect/contractor (OAC) and other project meetings, and reports as necessary
  • Leads, influences, and performance-manages a team of quality and commissioning personnel
  • This role requires regular on-site presence with travel locally within the region

Requirements

  • Technical knowledge of MEP systems

Education and Experience

  • Degree required - BSEE, associate in engineering technology
  • 7 or more years in a data center environment managing projects/operations, including 5 years data center commissioning experience
  • Extensive knowledge of quality management systems that can be applied to data centers
  • Data Center construction project management
  • Very strong experience in data center facility maintenance, operation, and/or commissioning
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical test equipment

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift heavy equipment, up to 50 lbs
  • Use of sight, hearing, and voice are required, as well as motor skills
  • Close visual work on a computer terminal
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate any required to operate computer keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments
  • Ability to climb ladders and work on raised platforms
  • Ability to transition through construction projects at every phase safely

Work Conditions

  • This position is expected to be remote for the foreseeable future with occasional need to be on site
  • Typical data center work environment with varying temperatures and loud noises
  • Extensive daily usage of a computer or workstation
  • Travel up to 35% to ensure quality, commission, and deliver the project as client turnover dates require

Special Requirements

  • Must be comfortable working in a high-stress, fast-paced environment shifting priorities
  • Must be willing to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, late nights, holidays, and on-call support
  • Must be available by cell phone after hours or for emergency situations
  • CPR/First Aid Certified
  • Must possess a current, valid state-issued driver's license
