Position Overview

We are seeking a Commercial Auto and General Liability Claims Specialist who will engage in a hybrid work model, requiring in-office presence two days a week. The successful candidate will demonstrate the following qualifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage collaboratively with agents, policyholders, and internal teams on complex claims, providing strategic insights on the portfolio.
  • Conduct thorough investigations of losses, assess coverage, evaluate liability and damages, and independently analyze relevant documents and legal pleadings.
  • Work alongside legal counsel to manage litigated claims, utilizing prior experience to scrutinize documents and legal submissions.
  • Formulate action plans to effectively resolve claims, promptly assess damages, negotiate with involved parties, and settle claims in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Establish and maintain accurate reserves for each claim to reflect the financial exposure accurately.
  • Identify the need for external resources and engage them as necessary to achieve appropriate resolutions while managing costs.
  • Address issues related to contractual indemnifications and additional insured coverage.
  • Review and interpret commercial insurance policies, clearly communicating coverage matters both verbally and in writing.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to identify and resolve issues, designing and implementing solutions to prevent future occurrences as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or a comparable combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience managing general liability and/or bodily injury claims of significant complexity.
  • Familiarity with contractual indemnification and additional insured coverages.
  • AIC or SCLA certification is preferred.
  • Ability to obtain necessary state licensing as required.
  • Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proven ability to cultivate positive relationships and partnerships within the department, across the organization, and with external clients.
  • Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of interacting effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel overnight up to 10% of the time.
  • Ability to travel daily between locations.
