Control Systems Engineer

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated Control Systems Engineer to join our team at a leading heavy industrial manufacturing facility. This role is crucial for the development and maintenance of advanced control systems (DCS and PLC) that facilitate real-time management of production processes. The successful candidate will collaborate with various departments, including operations, maintenance, and engineering, to enhance manufacturing efficiency and product quality through effective control system strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

The incumbent will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring safety compliance and leadership within the workplace.
  • Implementing and upholding company policies and procedures.
  • Holding all team members accountable for their responsibilities and actions.
  • Maintaining and updating control systems, including configuration changes and routine backups, while ensuring proper documentation.
  • Providing optimization support for control systems, including variability reduction and performance monitoring.
  • Assisting engineering teams with the design and implementation of capital projects.
  • Collaborating with facility technicians to execute physical tasks effectively.
  • Being available for on-call support during off-hours and weekends.
  • Completing assigned tasks with minimal supervision.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or an Associate's Degree in Automation Technology with relevant experience.
  • Experience with control systems, particularly in pulp and paper operations.
  • Familiarity with Programmable Logic Controllers, including Allen-Bradley systems.
  • Knowledge of process operations in power and steam generation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively across all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating complex issues clearly.
  • Proficient troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • A quick adaptability to new technologies and processes.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • A positive, motivated, and adaptable attitude, with a focus on teamwork.
