To support our vital mission, we are seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee our financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

The Accounting Manager plays a crucial role in delivering both operational and strategic financial guidance to K9s For Warriors, Inc. This position is responsible for managing the Finance Department and ensuring effective financial oversight, which includes:

  • Overseeing the month-end closing procedures
  • Reviewing journal entries and account reconciliations for accuracy
  • Preparing draft monthly financial statements in compliance with GAAP
  • Generating financial statement packages for internal review
  • Conducting financial analysis and developing reports
  • Responding to financial inquiries by researching data
  • Ensuring compliance with grant reporting requirements
  • Monitoring financial performance metrics and conducting trend analysis
  • Assisting with external audits and tax filings
  • Supporting payroll processing and expense management
  • Facilitating the annual budget development and variance analysis
  • Identifying opportunities for process enhancements
  • Maintaining strong relationships with financial partners and advisors
  • Providing mentorship to junior finance staff
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience, preferably in the non-profit sector
  • Experience managing a finance team for at least 2-3 years
  • Public accounting audit experience is a plus
  • Preferred qualifications include an MBA or a CPA designation
