Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Taxation Analyst to join our team at Empower Retirement. As a key member of our tax team, you will be responsible for preparing state tax filings, coordinating tax controversy matters, and assisting with insurance tax. Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare quarterly and annual state income/franchise tax filings
  • Assist with quarterly premium tax estimates and annual premium tax return calculations and payments
  • Manage indirect tax calculations and related tax filings
  • Prepare premium tax accruals and assist with review of income tax accruals
  • Analyze data throughout the preparation and/or review processes
  • Assist with state tax examination and notice responses, including tracking, response research, coordination, and formulation
  • Document significant tax positions and prepare workpapers supporting tax filings and income tax accruals
  • Participate in budgeting process and preparation of tax-related financial projections
  • Communicate and coordinate with other departments across the business and with state auditors and service providers
  • Manage and track tax payments and refunds
  • Ad hoc tax research and documentation
  • Special projects, administrative functions related to the above responsibilities, and all other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science (or equivalent) in Accounting and/or Master in Taxation
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification, preferred
  • Two years of tax return compliance
  • At least one year of experience in accounting for income taxes (either IFRS or US GAAP)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.)
