Organization: Our Saviour's Community Services (OSCS) is dedicated to providing dignified shelter and housing solutions for single adults, alongside essential educational programs for adult English language learners in the Phillips Community of South Minneapolis. Established in the early 1980s, OSCS became an independent nonprofit in 2004, ensuring a commitment to community service without religious affiliation.
Program Details: Our Saviour's Housing operates a 21-bed emergency shelter and a permanent supportive housing initiative for adults aged 18 and above. The shelter offers a safe haven, providing meals and supportive resources to individuals of all genders every night throughout the year. Currently, the shelter is accessible to residents around the clock and is transitioning to include a medical respite shelter.

Role Responsibilities: The Emergency Shelter Support Specialist is responsible for delivering essential direct services to guests at Our Saviour's Housing, ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all visitors, volunteers, and community members.
Key Duties Include:
- Adhering to OSCS's mission, vision, policies, and procedures.
- Providing support to shelter guests, volunteers, and internal stakeholders.
- Managing front desk operations, including monitoring guest entry and security systems.
- Performing housekeeping tasks to maintain cleanliness and hygiene, including laundry and dishwashing, with the occasional need to handle biohazard materials.
- Creating a positive, safe, and non-threatening atmosphere for all.
- Communicating and enforcing shelter policies and procedures to guests and volunteers.
- Establishing and maintaining professional boundaries.
- Utilizing effective conflict resolution and crisis intervention techniques.
- Offering guest services such as orientation, meal service, and fulfilling other shelter needs.
- Welcoming and supporting volunteers, collaborating with the Volunteer Coordinator.
- Maintaining open communication with staff and management through logs and other methods.
- Participating in team activities, training sessions, and staff meetings.
- Performing additional duties as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Proficiency in standard office equipment and software.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
- Physical capability to perform essential job functions, including walking, bending, and climbing stairs.
- Proficient in reading and writing English.
- Preferred proficiency in one or more languages such as Spanish, Somali, Arabic, Ukrainian, Russian, or Farsi/Persian.

Job Type: Part-time with On-Call Duty, non-exempt
Compensation: $18 per hour
