Steelmaking Process Automation Engineer

A prominent entity in the steel manufacturing sector is seeking a skilled engineer to oversee Level 2 automation initiatives within the melt shop and continuous casting operations. This role involves the design and execution of applications, databases, hardware, and HMI systems aimed at achieving operational objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhance Plant Operations by ensuring optimal availability, performance, and quality of Melt Shop and Continuous Caster Level 2 systems, while managing costs associated with process control systems.
  • Maintain and fine-tune process models and technological parameters to ensure efficiency.
  • Conduct regular analysis and reporting on maintenance and production processes, focusing on production disruptions, costs, quality, availability, and areas for continuous improvement.
  • Quickly troubleshoot process interruptions caused by automation systems, investigate root causes, and implement corrective measures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Technology, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in software development (e.g., C++, C#, .Net Framework, .Net Core, Java, Object-Oriented Languages, Software Development Life Cycle, Database integration) and database development, including Oracle (PL/SQL), Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL), and PostgreSQL.
  • Proficiency in hardware tuning and troubleshooting.
  • Experience in steel production and processing, particularly in Melt Shop and Continuous Caster operations.
  • Background in commissioning and startup processes within an industrial setting, specifically in steel.
  • Familiarity with virtual environments (VMware or Microsoft Hyper-V).
  • Knowledge of industrial automation computer networks.
