About the Role

We are seeking a talented and motivated Senior Product Manager - Technical to join our data engineering team. In this role, you will play a critical part in designing, developing, and optimizing data pipelines and solutions that enable efficient data processing and analysis.

As a Senior Product Manager - Technical, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive data-driven decision-making and contribute to the continuous improvement of our data infrastructure.

Mandatory Skills
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases, as well as data integration and transformation tools
Responsibilities:
  • Develop inspiring platform/product visions, derived from business needs, market opportunities, and technology trends
  • Use the Working Backwards method to decompose business requirements and customer experiences into features and functions that drive the platform/product roadmap
  • Work with Technical Program Managers, Developers, UX designers, and internal customers to define the details behind the business requirements
  • Collect and share user stories with engineering teams
  • Act as the voice of the business customer and accountable for the platform services
  • Collaborate with technical team and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Own the working backwards document and vision for one or more features
  • Elicit and decompose business requirements into platform requirements and user stories
  • Coordinate internal forums to collect and identify feature-level development opportunities
  • Contribute near-term input (quarterly) for the platform product portfolio and roadmap, prioritizing the backlog while defining the acceptance criteria for user stories
  • Recommend trade-off decisions on platform product features/depth of features/backlog items
  • Use runtime metrics of their services in market as a feedback loop in to the backlog and balances the priorities against new feature requests
  • Own and manage product documentation ensuring features and associated documentation are clear and easily consumable by other engineering teams
  • Enable self-service support and/or works to reduce overhead
  • Make use of research, user studies, metrics and competitive analysis to understand the platform and business needs for a platform product and inform the backlog
  • May participate with the business in customer research to inform platform product feature needs
  • Coordinate with interdependent teams on platform product requirements
  • Work with large datasets, ensuring data quality, accuracy, and performance
  • Continuously monitor feature development at the feature level adjusting throughout implementation as needed
  • Review product demo against acceptance criteria for the feature set
  • Prepare launches and monitor platform performances, adoption, and operational health for feature sets
  • Support and participate in post-launch reviews and ensures feedback is reincorporated into the feature
  • Identify issues that will keep the platform features from delivering on time and/or with the desired requirements and works with internal teams and customer service to identify, classify, and prioritize feature-level customer issues
Requirements:
  • 14 plus years of Technical program delivery experience including time developing and testing software
  • In-depth understanding of data warehousing concepts, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), and data modelling techniques
  • Passion for and engagement with emerging trends in data, AI/ML, analytics, and digital experiences
  • Experience in data product development, analytical models, and model governance
  • Experience in anonymizing data and managing the use of data
  • Experience in data hygiene procedures, identity resolution capabilities or data management a plus
  • Ability to create strategies and plans that define how information can be utilized to support an organization's overall business strategy, and how that information and data is organized, and governed inside an organization
  • Strong project management skills and a demonstrated ability to understand complex information product constructs
  • Familiarity with industry best practices for collection and use of data
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate complex data challenges
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience with agile methodologies and DevOps practices
