About the Role

U.S. Pipe is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team. As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing electrical engineering projects, specifications, plans, and designs for additions, modifications, and improvements to manufacturing equipment and plant facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Comply with deadlines and similar expectations while balancing multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Assist in the development of systems and processes to reduce costs, enhance employee safety, improve product quality, and increase operating efficiencies and equipment reliability.
  • Execute and manage capital projects to support these systems from design conception to installation and commissioning.
  • Implement critical projects ensuring adherence to design specifications, safety standards, and regulatory compliance on time and within budget.
  • Coordinate the design, construction, and installation of electrical power and control systems for new and existing equipment that are safe, reliable, and technically correct.
  • Proactively identify needs, conceive improvements, consider potential issues, and evaluate costs and potential savings to optimize existing machinery and/or processes.
  • Perform root cause analysis using established systems and techniques such as Failure Modes Effects Analysis, Cause and Effect diagrams (fishbone), 5 Whys, etc.
  • Conduct studies, collect data, and provide detailed engineering calculations to support proposed design solutions.
  • Create, modify, and document PLC programs, HMI screens and programs, electrical schematic drawings, control cabinet layouts, control networks, single line drawings, and power distribution layouts.
  • Prepare cost estimates, write detailed equipment specifications, obtain vendor/contractor quotations, write purchase order requisitions for equipment, and provide on-site supervision of construction projects to assure that plans and specifications are met.
  • Prepare electrical drawings, project schedules, cable and I/O tables, PLC programs, HMI screens and programs, sequence of operations, operating and maintenance procedures, including parts lists, to provide plant personnel with operating and maintenance information.
  • Assist Plant Engineering and Maintenance personnel with the identification of causes of electrical and control problems and provide solutions to problems through adjustments, modifications, training, documentation, or revisions to programs, parts, and systems.
  • Organize and maintain electrical controls and programming software licenses.
  • Coordinate and perform upgrades when required.
  • Maintain working relationships with outside consulting engineers, contractors, suppliers, and vendors to provide the Company with quality materials and professional assistance.
  • Obtain information from Engineering Department library and drawings, duplicate drawings as required, and supply information to plant personnel as required.
  • Will perform or assist with field work as required to support daily plant operation and project success.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field required.
  • Coursework or project experience designing or participating in the design of electrical power and control systems.
  • Familiarity with MS Office product suite, including Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrable familiarity with Autodesk products, including AutoCAD Electrical or similar packages.
  • Experience or coursework focused on design, installation, and/or programming of HMI systems (i.e., Panelview, Cimplicity).
  • Less than 10% travel.
