Job Summary:

GFL Environmental is seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for safely operating, repairing, rebuilding, and performing maintenance on our heavy-duty diesel trucks and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and Repair: Identify and repair operational difficulties with heavy-duty diesel trucks and equipment, ensuring they are in safe working condition.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy diesel, CNG, gas, and electrically operated equipment and vehicles.
  • Administrative Duties: Complete reports, work orders, order parts, and perform other administrative tasks as required.
  • Planning and Scheduling: Plan and schedule repairs in our M5 planner and procure all necessary parts for successful completion.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure safe working conditions and compliance with all safety regulations, including federal, state, and local laws.
  • Tool Maintenance: Possess, provide, and maintain tools necessary to perform tasks related to maintenance on heavy/hydraulic equipment.
  • Cleanliness: Maintain a clean work area, adhering to company standards.
  • Training and Development: Assist in the training and orientation of new employees and maintain a working knowledge of the latest technology through technical manuals and training seminars.

Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); technical diploma desired.
  • Experience: Minimum of one (1) year experience as a diesel mechanic.
  • Skills: Experience using diagnostic software a plus; must be computer literate and able to be trained on software systems.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to stand, sit, walk, use hands and fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, climb, balance, taste, and smell.

Working Conditions:

  • Environmental Factors: Frequently exposed to loud noise, humidity, hot and cold weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, vibration, toxic and caustic chemicals, fumes, and airborne particles.
  • Physical Effort: Frequently lift/push/pull up to 100 pounds.
