Truck and Equipment Maintenance Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic to join our team at GFL Environmental. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our heavy duty diesel trucks and equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Diagnostic and Repair: Diagnose and repair operational difficulties with heavy duty diesel trucks and equipment, utilizing a variety of diagnostic tools and techniques.
- Maintenance and Repair: Maintain and repair heavy diesel, CNG, gas, and electrically operated equipment and vehicles, adhering to manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
- Administrative Duties: Complete reports, work orders, order parts, and perform other administrative duties as required, ensuring accurate and timely completion.
- Planning and Scheduling: Plan and schedule repairs in our M5 planner, procuring all necessary parts to ensure successful completion.
- Review and Coordination: Assist in the review of mechanical write-ups on equipment and coordinate repair schedules to ensure optimal downtime and efficiency.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure safe working conditions and compliance with all safety regulations, adhering to company policies and industry standards.
- Tool Maintenance: Possess, provide, and maintain tools necessary to perform tasks related to maintenance on heavy/hydraulic equipment.
- Cleanliness and Organization: Maintain a clean work area, adhering to company standards for cleanliness and organization.
- Training and Development: Assist in the training and orientation of new employees, ensuring a smooth transition into the role.
- Technical Knowledge: Maintain a working knowledge of and keep up with the latest technology through the use of technical manuals and attendance of technical training seminars and testing.
- Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); technical diploma desired.
- Experience: Minimum of one (1) year experience as a diesel mechanic.
- Diagnostic Software: Experience using diagnostic software a plus.
- Computer Literacy: Must be computer literate, have the ability to be trained on software systems, and the willingness to learn.
- Safety Sensitive Functions: Must be able to meet relevant criteria for safety-sensitive functions according to Company standards.
- Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with others.
- Attention to Detail: Demonstrate ability to follow detailed instructions, work independently, and maintain accurate records.
- Language Skills: Ability to understand and effectively use repair and parts manuals written in English.
- Physical Ability: Ability to operate any vehicle or equipment necessary to perform job.
- Physical Demands: Possess physical ability to perform all aspects of job.
- Physical Effort: Frequent physical effort including handling tools and equipment required.
- Lifting and Carrying: Frequently lift/push/pull up to 100 pounds.
- Loud Noise: Frequently exposed to loud noise.
- Humidity and Weather: Frequently exposed to humidity, hot and cold weather conditions.
- Moving Mechanical Parts: Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- Vibration and Chemicals: Frequently exposed to vibration, toxic and caustic chemicals, fumes, and airborne particles.
- High Precarious Places: Occasionally work in high precarious places.
