Position Overview: The role involves overseeing and analyzing essential information to ensure the timely and budget-compliant construction of projects according to contractual quality standards. This position includes supervisory duties for Engineering Assistants, Plan Clerks, and Interns. The Engineering Support Specialist is accountable for documenting project components accurately.

Reports to: Engineer, Project Engineer, or Project Manager

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a point of contact for architects, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers, inspectors, and other project staff to address issues related to plans and specifications.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of all contract documents and job estimates, ensuring alignment between drawings and specifications.
  • Oversee project financials, including budget management.
  • Manage submittals and shop drawings, ensuring compliance with contract specifications and resolving any discrepancies.
  • Negotiate change orders and manage information regarding project modifications, including obtaining necessary approvals.
  • Facilitate the project close-out process, preparing final documentation such as RFIs, warranties, and as-builts.
  • Supervise and mentor Engineering Assistants, Plan Clerks, and Interns, contributing to performance evaluations.
  • Draft scope of work documents for various trades.
  • Generate reports on labor, safety, change orders, and quality control.
  • Coordinate subcontractor meetings and manage preconstruction and submittal review sessions.
Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree along with a minimum of two years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with advanced technologies such as BIM and LEAN. Ability to interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, and project schedules. Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements: The physical demands of this position require the ability to perform essential functions, which may include climbing stairs, using construction personnel hoists, and negotiating construction sites. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and depth perception. The role may involve lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs.

Work Environment: This position is performed on-site at construction locations, where exposure to moving mechanical parts, high places, and varying weather conditions is common. Noise levels can range from moderate to very loud.
