Reporting to the Project Controls Manager, the Intermediate Cost Controller is tasked with effectively executing cost management and reporting functions across various engineering projects of varying scales, aligning with project priorities while adhering to budgetary constraints and timelines. This position involves monitoring, updating, and analyzing project expenditures, reporting on cost discrepancies, and supporting schedule assessments. A successful candidate will possess a solid understanding of both planning and cost management activities within an engineering and construction context.
Location – Kincardine, ON.
Key Responsibilities:
Initiate and establish a portfolio of projects, oversee, manage, and report their performance throughout the entire project lifecycle in accordance with company protocols and standard project control methodologies. Manage project cost accounts, coordinating their initiation and closure based on the project timeline and status. Inform the Manager if adequate progress measurement systems are in place for all project activities throughout the project lifecycle. Provide advice and propose solutions regarding issues that may hinder the achievement of project goals, along with recommendations to optimize overall project costs. Deliver timely and precise cost report updates at the conclusion of each reporting period for project control accounts to ensure accurate monthly cost reporting. Generate regular reports on project cost status and deviations, recommending corrective actions as necessary. Produce regular reports on project time accumulation, analyze time budget variances, and suggest remedial measures. Contribute to client reporting in accordance with contractual obligations. Prepare forward-looking project and business cash flow forecasts. Oversee the change management process for the project. Report on potential issues that could impede the achievement of project objectives. Collaborate with other project controls personnel, including cost controllers and planners, to maintain an integrated cost-schedule project control framework. Work with planners on deliverables' progress to update estimates-to-complete. Present information to team members as required. Collaborate with the Financial Shared Services Centre (FSSC) to initiate, review, and issue client invoices. Working knowledge of general project control policies and procedures. Familiarity with standard financial processes, preferably in construction or engineering projects. Proficient report writing, communication, and presentation skills. Effective problem-solving abilities with a results-oriented mindset. Strong analytical capabilities. Ability to collaborate with staff and foster positive working relationships within the Project Controls team. Excellent communication and presentation skills across all organizational levels.
