PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION:

The Early Learning Master Teacher, under the guidance of the Early Learning Program Manager, is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing the educational curriculum for children enrolled in the Early Learning Program.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, organize, and implement educational programs for preschool-aged children in alignment with the approved curriculum and Think Together's educational philosophy.
  • Facilitate learning experiences in areas such as literacy, language, mathematics, science, social development, and self-awareness.
  • Create and execute daily lesson plans tailored to the individual needs and interests of each child.
  • Establish and uphold standards of behavior to foster a productive learning environment.
  • Promote an atmosphere that nurtures each child's self-esteem and respect for others. Assess student progress using various evaluation methods.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of children's development and achievements.
  • Conduct parent meetings to discuss children's adjustment, academic progress, and behavior in the classroom.
  • Assist in identifying children with special needs and refer them to appropriate agencies for assessment.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and engaging learning environment that supports children's transition from home to preschool.
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
  • Provide guidance and support to instructional assistants and volunteers; participate in performance evaluations as needed.
  • Attend to children's personal needs, including changing clothes and addressing injuries or illnesses.
  • Ensure the availability of necessary classroom supplies and materials; request additional resources as required.
  • Assume Site Director responsibilities in the absence of the director.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to fulfill program requirements and regulations.

EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • AA degree or higher with 24 units in Early Childhood Education/Child Development, including core courses, plus 16 units in General Education, 6 units in a specialization area, and 2 semester units in adult supervision, along with 350 hours of experience working with preschool-aged children within the last four years. (Child Development Site Supervisor preferred).
  • Must pass a background check and maintain TB test clearance every two years.
  • Current certification in Pediatric CPR/First Aid and Health and Safety (16 hours).
  • Compliance with immunization and background check standards as mandated by Human Resources.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and sensitivity to the needs of children and families.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Windows, Excel, and Word at an intermediate or advanced level.
  • Effective communication skills in both written and oral English.
  • A valid California Driver's License, regular access to an automobile, and automobile liability insurance.
  • Must be bilingual in Spanish.
