Child Protection Specialist

Hire Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Child Protection Specialist to join our team.
About the Role
As a Child Protection Specialist, you will be responsible for investigating reports of child abuse and neglect, assessing risk, and providing protection for vulnerable children. You will work closely with families, caregivers, and other stakeholders to ensure the safety and well-being of children.
Key Responsibilities
- Received and assessed reports of child maltreatment, following state policies and procedures.
- Conducted interviews with household members, obtained collateral information, and made home visits to assess safety.
- Provided referrals for treatment and services, initiated cases within mandated time frames, and referred to Child and Family teams as needed.
- Made decisions regarding immediate child safety, arranged alternate placements if necessary, and visited daycares, hospitals, schools, and other locations.
- Involving law enforcement as needed, engaging families to identify strengths and needs, analyzing reports from other agencies, and assessing substance abuse and future risk of harm.
- Provided in-home services to reduce risk to children, identified goals and created case plans, made referrals to community resources, and provided education to parents and caregivers.
- Acted as an advocate for families, reassessed risk throughout the life of the case, motivated families to change, mediated problem-solving, and located and engaged absent parents.
- Documented and entered information into the case management system, completed various forms and checklists, and met with supervisors for routine conferences and progress updates.
- Consulted with supervisors regarding cases, made joint decisions, responded to subpoenas, staffed cases with the assistant county attorney, and prepared court documents and reports.
- Testified in court, determined safe placements for children, obtained background checks on potential caretakers, and performed other duties as assigned.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need a Master's degree in Social Work or a related field, with at least one year of experience in social work or a related field. You must also have a valid North Carolina driver's license.
