Position Overview
The role involves overseeing a team of technical professionals and/or contractors engaged in various surveying activities, including but not limited to transmission lines, distribution lines, gas lines, seismic studies, construction staking, and land transactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with technical staff and contractors to ensure accurate and compliant survey operations across designated regions.
- Monitor and review survey work conducted by external vendors, ensuring adherence to Duke Energy's technical standards, timelines, and budgetary constraints. Provide recommendations for the approval of deliverables.
- Serve as the subject matter expert on survey laws and standards, offering professional guidance and oversight to survey vendors.
- Utilize advanced knowledge in survey law, engineering principles, and project management to support land acquisition and disposition initiatives.
- Establish and nurture effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Stay updated on best practices, regulations, and legal requirements pertaining to land surveying.
Qualifications
Basic/Required Qualifications (Senior Land Surveying Coordinator)
- Associate's degree in Surveying, Topography, or a related field with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or
- High School diploma/GED with at least 7 years of related experience.

- Associate's degree in Surveying, Topography, or a related field with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or
- High School diploma/GED with at least 4 years of related experience.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of relevant experience.
- Registered Land Surveyor certification.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to coordinate all phases of contracts.
- Excellent organizational and documentation abilities.
- Proven capability to interpret construction plans.
- Able to work independently to verify deliverables and perform complex calculations using standard surveying software.
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills to navigate challenges in complex assignments.
Working Conditions
- Field Mobility Classification – Work will be conducted in various field locations as required. Employees must reside within a reasonable commuting distance to their assigned work location.
